Locating the VIN

The VIN number can be found by looking at the dashboard. The easiest way to view it is to stand outside the vehicle and look at the corner of the dashboard where it meets the windscreen. If the VIN cannot be found there, open the side door and look at the door post (near the latches when it is closed). You may also find it on the DVLA V5 document, handbook or within your insurance documentation.  Alternatively your Dealership may be able to help you too.

VIN stands for Vehicle Identification Number. Each VIN is a combination of numbers and letters that is unique to every vehicle manufactured since 1981. Prior to this time VINs were unique, but they varied in length and format. VINs can be used to track recalls, registrations, warranty claims, thefts and insurance coverage.
